OpenADR Standard to be focal point at DistribuTECH 2024

We are just a week away from DistribuTECH and the OpenADR Alliance is ready to showcase the accelerating certification of products and the recently released OpenADR 3.0 standard. This is a newly defined add-on to OpenADR2.0b using modern web service designs. This latest enhancement to the standard is now ready and available for download on our website.

This year DistribuTECH is expected to have a record number of attendees with over 400 exhibitors in Orlando, FL. Feb. 26-29. Over the three days, we will have the opportunity to explore the latest in electricity delivery automation, energy efficiency, and demand response.

The OpenADR Alliance, along with over 20 members including: AmpControl, AutoGrid, driivz, Itron, Landis+Gyr, metergram, PARSONS, Sol-ARK, SWTCH and more will be showcasing solutions and developer resources based on the OpenADR standard for renewable energy, energy storage, demand response, and electric vehicle (EV) charging.

Sunil Goyal from Ford Motor Company and board member for the OpenADR Alliance will be speaking on Tuesday, Feb 27th at 2:40pm Ford Customer Experiences, Behaviors, and Performance in Vehicle - Grid (VGI) Integration Programs. Following his presentation Sunil will be at the OpenADR booth on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 4pm and on Wednesday, Feb. 28th at 4pm. On Wednesday we are hosting happy hour at our booth (2056) so grab a drink and hear more about how Ford is implementing the OpenADR standard.

Managed EV charging platforms are the fastest growing component of Alliance membership, and Vehicle to Grid has joined solar/storage as distributed energy resource use cases leveraging the OpenADR protocols.  At our booth, member AmpControl will be showcasing its One EV charging management system to increase fleet efficiency, reliability, and security. Be sure to stop by to learn more.

Klas Eliasson, from member company Metergram, will take the stage on Feb. 28 at 10:55AM to present ‘From Grid to Charger: Integrating EV Chargers in Demand Response Solutions’ so do mark your calendars. This session will explore the implementation of a software system for managing EV chargers as Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) in the context of Demand Response.

We'll delve into how to interface the grid/utility side with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) using protocols like OpenADR, and offer an in-depth analysis of a customized OCPP implementation, transforming chargers into dynamic DERs

In addition, we will be highlighting our latest EcoPort product certification, the Alliance’s newest certification program. EcoPort, the consumer-facing brand for the ANSI/CTA-2045 technical standard was created by a collaborative group of utilities, manufacturers and government stakeholders, and helps local electric utilities support water heaters and other appliances as part of peak-load management or other customer programs.

We look forward to a busy week ahead and to seeing you in Orlando!
