OpenADR News Alerts

Thank you, again, to all those who attended the OpenADR Alliance Member Meeting last week! It was a great venue to connect the faces to the names of the remote correspondence we have on a day to day basis. Our expert speakers informed attendees on how the OpenADR standard is strengthening the electrical grid through improved energy efficiency and reliability. In return, attendees had the opportunity to ask speakers a number of questions which led to informative dialog throughout the two day event. Be sure to check out some pictures from the meeting and a special thanks to our networking reception sponsors, AutoGrid and Universal Devices: http://bit.ly/2014JuneOpenADRMtgPhotos

In the middle of European Sustainable Energy Week (#EUSEW2014), the Alliance had a strong European Special Interest Group (EUSIG) Kickoff meeting.  The OpenADR standard is poised to expand with direction from this burgeoning working group.

Be sure to check out two contributed articles from the OpenADR Alliance. Automated Demand Response: Connecting Utilities Worldwide by Barry Haaser, managing director, featured in Power Engineering Magazine. QualityLogic has come out with a new workshop to “help inform utility DR program managers, designers, and implementers about how to best use OpenADR-based systems for automating DR.”

A video to note: PG&E not only educates about demand response, but also paints a picture of life without demand response.

We are revamping the OpenADR website to focus on educating key audiences and propelling the OpenADR standard toward widespread adoption.  This revamp will even include a searchable certified products database. We would appreciate your ongoing feedback throughout this process. To be included, please email: [email protected]

Please be sure to view the following link to the OpenADR Project Map hosted by LBNL: http://drrc.lbl.gov/openadr/map/list. We are seeking information from our members to populate the map with OpenADR programs and pilots. Technical Update

At last week's member test event 10 companies collaborated to connect their products successfully and participants gained valuable hands-on experience. These tests are designed to refine the OpenADR standard further and increase its ability to lower the cost, improve the reliability, and accelerate the speed of Automated Demand Response (AutoDR) implementations.
